Lifestyle Tips to Live Well Past 80

The first place you have to look for healthy tips is the types of foods you eat. There are many healthy foods to eat. The question is whether you will give up the junk food you are used to eating and begin consuming good healthy foods. The benefits of a healthy diet are well worth the effort you will put into making healthful food choices.

Healthy Eating Guidelines To Stay Youthful

Easy healthy diets can be constructed from a few simple rules pertaining to daily eating.

Eat at least five servings of raw vegetables and fresh fruit every day. This simple step will give your body the enzymes and antioxidants it needs to fight off the ravages of time and decay.

Consume whole grain products such as bread, pasta, and cereal instead of refined grain products. This common tip will give your body an array of nutrients as well as the vital fiber it needs to maintain normal, daily functioning.

Limit your daily protein consumption to a piece of meat about the size of a pack of playing cards because it is not needed in great quantities. However, a slight increase in protein intake is advised as you progress into your later years.

Drink lots of pure water. Water is used in many chemical reactions constantly taking place in all areas of your body. It is also lost in substantial amounts when waste is flushed from your body.

To keep your body operating efficiently and youthful you must be able to efficiently flush toxins from your body. Plenty of water consumed throughout your day provides this vital resource.

These are the basics that will make it easy for you to consume healthy foods regardless of the time or place of your next meal.

Water, Enzymes And Vitamins

Now you have to begin to slowly integrate these types of foods into the meals you currently consume. It’s easy to do if you begin serving a salad or raw vegetable platter as an appetizer to every lunch or dinner you eat. Consider serving water with the meal and saving your other drinks for snacks or as an after dinner treat.

It is important that you consume raw vegetables with each meal because cooking kills all of the vital enzymes and most of the other nutrients.

Why would you want to eat foods that are missing nutrients?

Adding an adequate amount of whole grains to your daily eating regimen will offer big dividends in the long run. Here is an easy way to begin consuming more of these healthful foods.

Buy whole grain bread in addition to the tasteless white bread you usually buy and begin alternating them. This will allow you to effortlessly transition to the healthier bread. You will soon find yourself buying only the whole grain bread because you will begin appreciating the fuller flavor it offers.

Good Sleep

Sleep is when your body heals and replenishes itself. Without adequate sleep and rest it will suffer increased wear and tear. That leads to premature aging. An adult needs eight hours of sleep a night while teens demand 10-12 hours per night.

And don’t forget afternoon naps! Yes, it is OK to take an afternoon nap. It is even strongly advised to take the time to nap. Your work will wait.

There is a definite sleep cycle demanded by your body in the middle of the afternoon. This is a time your bodily functions and mind slow down. That is why you often feel tired or sluggish in mid afternoon.

In countries where they take a “siesta” every day the heart attack rate is much lower than in places where naps are not taken as a rule. An afternoon nap should not be excessively long. Fifteen to thirty minutes is sufficient. More sleep may make you groggy.

So take afternoon naps and be happier, more productive and healthier.

Good Exercise

Exercise is essential to keep your body healthy well past 80. It should begin as early in life as possible and continue throughout your entire life span.

Exercise does not have to mean you go to the gym and sweat with a bunch of strangers. It only means that you are moving your body instead of sitting in front of the TV all day.

Do you like golf or bowling? They are exercise and provide a lot of fun and relaxation.

Do you like taking walks? That is also exercise.

Whatever you want to do to move your body is OK. Daily exercise will keep your vital body functions operating at peak efficiency to help you maintain your health well into your later years.

Balanced Lifestyle

Do you wake up in the morning feeling refreshed and well rested? Are you within your weight by ten pounds? Do you do a physical activity at least once a day to get your heart rate pumping? Perhaps you do one of these. Walk briskly for one hour, exercise or calisthenics, about 45 minutes, sport of your choice, or light aerobic exercise? The body needs physical exercise of some kind once a day. If you work at a desk job you should get up every hour and do some stretches to get the blood flowing. When you get home, take a walk or do some light aerobic exercise.

Do you eat at least four servings of raw fruits or vegetables in one day? Health-wise you should eat at least four servings of raw food a day. Most nutritionists say that eating a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables ensures you are receiving your daily intake of nutrients your body needs to stay healthy. An example of this is to eat a red apple with your breakfast, a green salad for lunch, a yellow orange for snack, and a purple cabbage slaw with dinner. You get the idea, right?

Emotional / Mental Lifestyle

Emotionally the balanced person does not feel in lack or in need for anything, even if they don’t have much. Having stuff is not where happiness lies. Stuff is great to have, no doubt about it, but if we are living our life, just going to work everyday so we can have more stuff that we really don’t need, there is an imbalance in our life. Besides work what else do you do? Do you have a hobby or other activity that you partake in?

Some people are mentally and emotionally sick because of past baggage. Perhaps they had an alcoholic parent, or perhaps they felt unloved and abandoned as a child. Whatever it is, you have to move on! Don’t keep bringing up a traumatic past when you have your future in front of you! That’s not right. Resolve your baggage and heal thyself. Live for today!

Mentally the balanced person feels good about who they are. They are generally have good relationships with others. Having good mental health does not mean you won’t ever have negative feelings, but that you won’t let your negative feelings to control you and your behavior. It’s normal to feel our emotions – that’s not what I’m talking about here. If a person is still dredging up the past from months or years ago, something is not mentally balanced within that person. If we have a negative past we have to resolve it and heal. Life is going to have its stresses and challenges. The mentally healthy face their challenges and resolve them instead of lingering in them.

Spiritual Lifestyle

Co-dependence, addictions, negative feelings, and inadequate relationship skills are because we are too dependent on how the world moves rather than on how God moves. We are too absorbed with the physical elements of our life rather than the spiritual. Where is the balance in that?

I’m not talking about organized religion here. Organized religion is for those people who like to have a guide helping them along the way towards whatever things spiritual they are seeking. Church is a great place to meet like-minded people but church can also stunt your growth. Church leaders are only seed planters, if even that. Once the seed is in your heart and in your mind only your relationship with your Creator will make the seed grow.

I (Paul) planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who makes things grow.

(1 Corinthians 3:6,7)

When someone is new at accepting Christ, by all means they should “go to church” and learn the basic concepts about God and how God works in their life. But eventually that person has to grow and mature spiritually “in the Lord” and going to church is not where that is. Your relationship with God, through your prayers, thoughts, actions, and lifestyle is church! Church is in your heart and mind wherever you may be, and whenever you want it to be. Your spirituality is what you make it to be.

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks. God is spirit and his worshippers must worship in spirit and in truth. (John 423,24)

Your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health is a precious commodity. Your body and mind is aging every day. That means you’re not getting any younger. All areas of your health will decline faster if you don’t take care of your health now! You can be in control of your health, if you take control.

Sedentary Lifestyle

When a person just sits down and does not get involved in physical activities, his or her muscles are not being used. As a result there is poor circulation of blood in the body which, in turn, can cause a whole lot of health problems.

Some of the main health issues caused by sedentary lifestyle are obesity, heart diseases, muscle atrophy, diabetes, osteoporosis, and sleep apnea. Many health experts claim that the main reason for leading a sedentary life is laziness. A person will come up with number of excuses not to do any kind of physical exercise. He or she will claim to be tired, fatigued and drained out after spending 9 hours sitting in front of a computer at office. Little does this person realize that if he or she does some form of physical exercise, they will feel rejuvenated and energized.

One of the main effects of a sedentary lifestyle is obesity. Today, even children are battling obesity. Obesity is caused due to poor eating habits and not getting into any kind of physical activity. When a person consumes more calories than the body requires, the excess calories are stored as fat in the body. Obesity is a risk factor for several diseases, including heart disease, cancer, hypertension, strokes, diabetes, and arthrosclerosis.

The other effect of sedentary lifestyle is increasing the risk of getting heart diseases. When a person is inactive, the circulation of the blood is slow and this leads to the blood vessels getting stiff and blocked. It can lead to serious heart diseases, especially as the person gets older.

Therefore, having an active and healthy lifestyle that combines proper diet and physical activity can alleviate the risk of certain illnesses and diseases. Even simple exercises like walking or gardening can go a long way.

Healthy Lifestyle Tips

1. Get some zzzzzs. Sleep affects just about everything we do and without enough sleep, we all tend to unravel. Inadequate sleep affects your cravings, your metabolism, your energy level, mood, activity, focus and motivation. If you aren’t regularly getting seven hours of sleep a night (or more) this is the first area to address. If you are exhausted and try to keep going, you aren’t likely to be effective and you’ll probably be drawn to mindless “zoning out” activities that are really just busy work. Go to sleep instead.

2. Identify your trouble spots. Don’t just focus on what you want to do. Be smart and identify the things that have led you off track in the past. A positive attitude is great, but a proactive plan for how you will do it differently this time is even better.

3. Grow tools for managing emotions and stress. Emotional eating (including stress eating) is one of the primary causes of overeating, weight gain, and weight regain. Without the strategies you need, stressful situations can trigger very unhealthy (and self-sabotaging) responses such as overeating, smoking, alcohol use, avoidance, or numbing out in front of the computer. Hard times are also the time when many women abandon or lose track of health, fitness, and wellness goals. Instead of only focusing on what you’ll eat or when you’ll work out, invest some energy in addressing any real issues that are the trigger for the habits you are trying to kick.

4. Don’t lose yourself. One of the biggest reasons that busy women get off track is that they get distracted by other life demands.

• Designate a time to check in with yourself-at least weekly-and evaluate how things are going. Use this time to schedule the additional time you’ll need throughout the week for exercise, stress relief, meal planning, etc.

• Post your goals somewhere where you will see them and be reminded of them regularly. Make sure you identify milestones along the way to your big goal and reward yourself for reaching them.

5. Keep it positive. Don’t ignore your mindset-it has the power to impact your mood, your energy level, your choices and your progress. Focus on what you’ve done rather than what didn’t happen.

Acknowledge the accomplishments (change is difficult) and celebrate your achievements along the way. Adopt the mantra, “I’m doing my best” instead of “I have to get it perfect” and you’ll be much better prepared to keep going when the going gets tough, recognize your progress and your efforts, and take good care of yourself along the way.

Disappears Out of Your Life

Don’t pressurize him to get close to you
Maybe it was a one night stand. That’s okay. All you have to do is to act casual and don’t act like you expect him to produce a ring just because you spent the night together! This will make him relax. Instead all you have to do is make him know that you had a wonderful time. He will love you for it.

Make him know that you are not a “slut”
Just because you had sex with him does not mean that he can treat you like one! Make it pretty clear to him that you will not tolerate being treated like a fast or cheap woman. Let him chase you and do his best to get you into bed again. Don’t make it easy for him and he will love to chase you.

Don’t get involved emotionally till he does
Wait till you tell him how much you care for him. It is better to make him fall deeply in love with you first. Keep him attracted to you. Work on your sex appeal and make him crave you. This way you have him under your spell. Soon he will be with you because he truly cares and not only because of the sex.

Prolong the after glow as long as possible
Don’t rush off after sex pretending you have something to do just because you are afraid that it will get too awkward. Give him time to enjoy the sensation of having you beside him. Relax in his arms and don’t talk unless he does. It is possible he will get to really love you because you seem so comfortable to be with.

Don’t make demands on him and he will love you
Many women spoil their chances with their men because they read too much into the relationship without waiting to check if they feel the same way. If you demand his attention and act like he belongs to you, he will resent it and tend to treat you badly. Have patience and be yourself – chances are that he will really fall for you.

Tell him that you had a wonderful time and leave!
It pays to be honest. Even though a part of you is dying to cling – don’t! Just kiss him and leave him wanting more of you. If you don’t expect too much from him then he will love you for it! It will make him enjoy the sex more!

That Seem Natural

Being comfortable kissing first begins by being comfortable with yourself. You should be sure that you are presenting as attractive appearance as you can. Your lips should be supple and soft. Lip gloss or balm used everyday can help to keep your lips soft and enticing.

Your breath should be fresh. If you smoke or just dined on a meal with garlic or spicy foods you might want to be sure that you have gum or mints on hand. In fact, you should always have mints handy.

When you start to kiss someone be sure to pay attention to his signals. Make sure they are at ease and comfortable. Do not get so involved in kissing that you do not pay attention to the signals your kissing partner is giving to you. Confidence is very important to kissing effectively. Be relaxed and go with the mood.

There are many types of kisses. Most people know what a French kiss is. But do you know the Butterfly kiss? The Cheek Kiss? Earlobe Kiss? Eye kiss? All these kisses are appropriate at different times and can create a different element of sensuality.

The butterfly kiss is where you flutter your eyelashes quickly in order for your partner to feel them. Cheek and forehead kisses are kisses between friends. A cheek kiss is appropriate for a first date. Kissing on the earlobes and involves sucking and sipping on the earlobe of your kissing partner. When you rub noses with your partner that is an Eskimo kiss! Kissing the eyes of your partner is another tender kiss to offer.

Sucking on the fingers of your partner is another relaxing and stimulating kiss to perform. The kissing and/or sucking the toes of your partner are considered very erotic. The Melt Kiss or Freeze Kiss is where you place an ice cube in your mouth and pass it to your partner while kissing. You can even kiss up and down the body melting the ice as you kiss along.

There are many other variations of these kisses. This includes, placing fruit between your lips, kissing and licking your partner’s hands, sucking on their lower lip, nibbling their neck.

You need to experiment trying different kisses with your partner to see which kisses you both enjoy. Mix it up. What turns you on today may bore you tomorrow.
